We have now extended Stepping Stones East services, to help people with additional social care needs.

This is an exciting time of change, as more people are moving towards self-directed support and funding via personal budgets for their needs.

This person-centred individual approach allows service users to have more choice and stay in control of their lives and support needs.  We can provide assistance in identifying a suitable package of individualised support from the available support services.

Support Services

Providing support to individuals, proactively helping them to develop practical skills, coping strategies and motivate them towards greater independence.  This may include:

• Household and domestic maintenance
• Help with benefit claims and accessing other services
• Motivation towards education and training
• Help with integration within the local community
• Accessing activities
• Supplying accommodation & services package

Case study one:

Tom a 36 year old male with mental health difficulties, receiving direct payments for his care needs.

Stepping Stones East has located appropriate housing for this individual and are now providing a range of services including mentoring, domestic support and  general support.  This involves help with time management, shopping, daily chores, accessing social activities and engaging with the local community.

Case study two:

Richard a 22 year old male with Asperger's Syndrome and mental health difficulties is currently in being provided with a private flat from Stepping Stones East. 

We were initially contacted to support Richard as he was struggling to cope whilst an undergraduate at University two years ago.  Since receiving additional support from Stepping Stones East he has embarked now on his postgraduate studies.  He also receives support with accommodation, accessing university, mentoring, help with domestic chores, and out of office hours emotional support.
